Tom Yum is a famous soup that originated in Thailand. It is not only delicious, it has also been found to contain immune-boosting power that helps cure flu and cold viruses. The rest of the world remembers Tom Yum for its savory, sour and spicy broth. The broth is made of tamarind, fish sauce, lime juice, galangal, lime leaves, shallots and lemon grass. Crushed chilies are added to the broth giving it its deep orange color and spicy taste. What makes Tom Yum so special is the generous amount of herbs necessary to create the broth. Traditionally, the soup is topped with fresh cilantro leaves or coriander. Oyster or straw mushrooms, or a combination of both, are added on to the recipe. All these flavors are captured by Mama’s Instant Noodle (Tom Yum).

The rest of the world can now have a taste of what traditional Tom Yum is like. Through instant noodles, the preparation of this soup is made so much easier. People who do not have the luxury of time to prepare all the ingredients can enjoy the instant version of it. Mama’s combination captures the delicate taste of the traditional Thai cuisine.

Aside from flavor, the instant version of this dish also contains the nutrients of Tom Yum. The broth is generally rich in protein which is from the added shrimp or prawns, chicken, fish, or a mix of different seafood. Traditional Tom Yum changes name depending on which protein is added. For instance, Tom Yum Gai means soup with chicken. Other variations include Yom Yum Goong or soup with shrimps or prawns, Tom Yum Pla or soup with fish, Tom Yum Talay or soup with mixed seafood and Tom Yum Khon in which coconut milk is added to the broth.

Thanks to Mama and Instant Noodle (Tom Yum). People from all over can have a taste of this delicious Thai dish.
